Bengal Teen Battling Cancer Secures Top Rank in Higher Secondary Exam
Despite battling a rare form of cancer for nearly three years, Adrija Gan achieved remarkable academic success by securing a joint 10th rank in the West Bengal Higher Secondary examination. Her achievement has become an inspiring example of determination, resilience, and academic excellence.
Battling a rare form of cancer for almost three years did not stop Adrija Gan from excelling academically, as the teenager emerged among the top performers in the West Bengal Higher Secondary examination results announced on Thursday.
A student of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls’ School in Bagbazar, Adrija scored 487 marks and secured a joint 10th rank in the merit list published by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
Her achievement has drawn widespread admiration, particularly because she continued her studies while undergoing treatment for a rare cancer condition. Despite the physical and emotional challenges associated with her illness, she remained focused on academics and delivered an outstanding performance in the board examinations.
Adrija had earlier demonstrated academic excellence in the Madhyamik or Class 10 board examinations as well, where she secured 94 percent marks.
Teachers, classmates, and well-wishers praised her determination and perseverance, describing her success as an inspiration for students across the state. Her accomplishment highlights the strength and resilience she displayed while balancing health challenges and academic responsibilities.
