Odisha, Jharkhand and Bengal Under Orange Alert Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall over East Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal today.

The Met Department has also forecast heavy rainfall over several parts of the country during the next two to three days, including Northeast India, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

According to the IMD, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds until tomorrow.

Similar thunderstorm and lightning conditions are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Uttarakhand until Saturday.

The widespread weather activity is likely to keep several states on alert for intense rainfall, lightning and gusty winds over the coming days.
