IMD Warns of Rising Heat and Humidity in Kerala
Amid rising temperatures and humid weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Kerala after temperatures crossed 41°C in certain parts of the state.
The weather department has warned that heatwave conditions are likely at isolated places in Palakkad, Kollam, and Thrissur today. An orange alert has been declared for these districts.
As a precautionary measure, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has advised residents to remain indoors between 11 AM and 3 PM, when ultraviolet (UV) index levels are expected to be at their highest.
Authorities have also urged people to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary steps to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The alert comes as several parts of southern India continue to experience above-normal temperatures and uncomfortable humidity levels.
