Guwahati Set to Get Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple on 10.33 Acres
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has formally taken possession of over 10 acres of land allotted by the Assam government for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of spiritual infrastructure in Northeast India.
In a major development aimed at expanding the spiritual and cultural presence of the renowned Tirupati temple tradition in Northeast India, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has officially taken possession of land allotted by the Assam government for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati.
According to an official release issued by the temple body, the Assam government has allotted 10.33 acres of land situated in the Sonapur Circle of Kamrup District for the project.
TTD Chairman B. R. Naidu confirmed the development and described it as a significant step towards establishing a major spiritual centre in the region.

“TTD has officially taken possession of 10.33 acres of land allotted by the Assam Government for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati,” the official statement said.
The proposed temple is expected to cater to the spiritual needs of devotees residing in Assam and other northeastern states, reducing the need for many worshippers to travel long distances to seek the blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati.
Apart from serving as a place of worship, the upcoming temple is also expected to emerge as a centre for cultural and religious activities, promoting the rich traditions associated with the Tirumala shrine and fostering greater cultural integration across regions.
The initiative reflects TTD’s broader efforts to expand its outreach beyond Andhra Pradesh, with the institution having established temples and devotional facilities in various parts of the country to serve devotees.

Officials indicated that the next phase of the project would involve planning, design approvals, and the commencement of construction activities. Details regarding the temple’s architectural features, estimated cost, and timeline for completion are expected to be announced in due course.
The establishment of the temple is also anticipated to contribute to tourism and local economic activity in the Guwahati region, attracting pilgrims and visitors from across Northeast India.
