Assam Flood Toll Reaches 98 as 1.55 Lakh People Remain Affected
The flood situation in Assam remained serious on Friday, with the death toll rising to 98. While the number of affected districts and people impacted has declined, over 1.55 lakh residents across 13 districts continue to face the effects of flooding, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The flood situation in Assam continued to remain grim on Friday, although there were signs of improvement in several areas. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood-related death toll has increased to 98 after one more person lost their life in the Mahmora revenue circle of Charaideo district.
The latest ASDMA bulletin stated that the number of flood-affected districts has reduced to 13, while the number of people affected has come down to around 1.55 lakh. Despite the improvement, floodwaters continue to impact thousands of residents across 33 revenue circles and 464 villages.
The districts still affected include Sivasagar, Golaghat, Nagaon, Hojai, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Darrang, Biswanath, Kamrup (Metropolitan), Lakhimpur, Udalguri, Jorhat, and Charaideo. Authorities continue to monitor the situation while relief and rehabilitation efforts remain underway to assist affected communities and restore normalcy.
