Ambadas Danve, a senior leader of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), has demanded that the recently released film Raja Shivaji be granted tax-free status in Maharashtra.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Danve said that making the film tax-free would help it reach a wider audience and promote awareness about the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The film, co-written and directed by Riteish Deshmukh, portrays the life of the 17th-century Maratha warrior-king and founder of the Maratha Empire. It is currently running in theatres across the state.

Danve emphasized that such historical films play an important role in educating younger generations and preserving cultural heritage, and should therefore be supported through policy measures like tax exemptions.
