A Delhi court on Saturday ordered the framing of charges against Jacqueline Fernandez, alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, and 15 others in connection with the ₹200-crore money laundering case.

The order was passed by Prashant Sharma, who observed that there was sufficient prima facie material available against the accused to proceed with the case.

In a separate order, the court also directed the framing of charges against Chandrashekhar and 20 other accused in another case registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.

Charges in Separate Case

The second case involves allegations under various criminal provisions, including the stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The court held that the available evidence at this stage warranted the framing of charges and continuation of the trial process.

What Framing of Charges Means

The framing of charges does not amount to a conviction. It signifies that the court has found sufficient grounds to proceed with the trial after examining the investigation records and material placed before it.

The prosecution and defence will now have the opportunity to present evidence and arguments during the trial proceedings.
