Indian Cinema Festival Set to Debut Across New Zealand Cities

Actors-producers Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are set to lead the launch of The Indian Film Festival of New Zealand (TIFFNZ), marking the establishment of New Zealand’s first dedicated Indian film festival.
Founded by Petrina D’Rozario, the festival is scheduled to debut in October 2026 across the cities of Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. The launch event featuring Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal will take place on June 2.

According to a press release, the inaugural four-day film gala will include movie screenings, workshops, cultural programmes, and industry discussions aimed at promoting collaboration and creative exchange between the Indian and New Zealand film industries.
The festival is expected to celebrate the diversity of Indian cinema while also creating opportunities for filmmakers, artists, and audiences from both countries to connect through storytelling and cultural dialogue.
Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, who are known for supporting independent and globally oriented cinema projects, have increasingly expanded their presence as producers and international collaborators in recent years. Their association with TIFFNZ is being viewed as a significant boost for the festival’s international profile and outreach.
