Ele Animations has announced that it will adapt its successful television series Jay Jagannath into a theatrical animated feature film titled Mahaprabhu Jagannath.

According to a press release, the film is planned for a pan-India release across more than 300 screens in Hindi, Odia, and Telugu languages in collaboration with multiplex chain Cinépolis.

The makers have described Mahaprabhu Jagannath as the first animated feature film centred on Lord Jagannath, one of the most revered deities in Indian spiritual tradition. The project is expected to blend mythology, devotion, and modern animation techniques to create a cinematic experience for audiences across age groups.

The film is also intended to serve as the foundation for a larger interconnected entertainment franchise involving films, television series, music projects, and immersive experience destinations focused on Indian spiritual and mythological storytelling.

Industry observers believe the project reflects the growing interest in Indian mythological content and the expansion of the domestic animation industry into large-scale theatrical storytelling.
