Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday strongly criticised the Centre following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination, saying the future of nearly 23 lakh students had “once again been toyed with”.

The remarks came after the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 exam conducted on May 3 amid allegations of a paper leak and examination irregularities. The Union government has also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.

Reacting to the development, Yadav said the recurring incidents of paper leaks in Bihar and other parts of the country reflected a deepening crisis in the examination system. He alleged that despite repeated controversies, authorities had failed to ensure transparency and security in competitive examinations.

The RJD leader further said that students and their families continue to suffer due to repeated failures in the system, with uncertainty now looming over fresh examination dates, admission schedules, and counselling processes.

The NEET-UG cancellation has triggered sharp political reactions nationwide, with opposition parties accusing the government of failing to protect the credibility of one of India’s largest entrance examinations.
