The Sashastra Seema Bal has arrested two Thai nationals who were allegedly attempting to cross into Nepal through the Kharibari area of the Indo-Nepal border near Panitanki in West Bengal.
According to officials, the individuals were intercepted during routine checks and were found carrying documents bearing fake immigration stamps. Preliminary investigations suggest that the forged stamps were intended to facilitate illegal cross-border movement.
The two foreign nationals were taken into custody and are being produced before the Siliguri Subdivisional Court for further legal proceedings.
Authorities have also arrested the driver of the vehicle used in the operation. Investigators suspect the involvement of a broader network facilitating illegal border crossings and document forgery.
Officials said one additional accused linked to the case is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the individual.
The incident has prompted intensified scrutiny along the Indo-Nepal border, a strategically important transit corridor where security agencies regularly monitor illegal migration, trafficking, and cross-border criminal activities.
Further investigation is being carried out to determine the source of the forged immigration stamps, the travel route of the accused, and whether any organized network was involved in facilitating their movement.
