Malappuram Explosives Case Under Continued Federal Scrutiny
The National Investigation Agency carried out searches at two locations in Kerala’s Malappuram district as part of its ongoing investigation into the arrival and storage of a large consignment of explosive materials in Tirurangadi.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at two locations in Kerala’s Malappuram district as part of its investigation into the transportation and storage of a truckload of explosive materials that arrived in the Tirurangadi area.
According to officials, searches were carried out at a warehouse in Tirurangadi and at the residence of the wife of the lorry owner in Vandoor.
The operation is linked to an ongoing probe into the movement, destination, and intended use of the explosive materials that were reportedly transported into the district.
Investigators are examining records, documents, and other evidence related to the transportation and storage of the consignment. Officials are also seeking to establish whether any legal or regulatory violations occurred in connection with the explosives.
The NIA recently took over the investigation into the case, which has attracted attention due to the large quantity of explosive materials involved and the potential security implications.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the nature of the evidence collected during the raids. However, officials indicated that inquiries are continuing and additional leads are being pursued.
The agency is expected to analyze the material gathered during the searches as part of its effort to determine the full chain of procurement, transportation, storage, and possible end-use of the explosives.
