Gold and silver prices traded higher in the Indian bullion market on Tuesday, extending recent gains and reflecting strong demand for precious metals.

According to market data, 24-carat gold was trading 0.8 per cent higher at ₹1,60,470 per 10 grams. The latest rise pushed the yellow metal above the ₹1.60 lakh level, highlighting continued investor preference for gold as a hedge against uncertainty and inflationary pressures.

Silver also recorded significant gains, advancing more than 1.4 per cent to ₹2,71,110 per kilogram in the spot bullion market. The white metal continued to benefit from both investment demand and its importance in industrial applications, including electronics, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

Trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) mirrored the positive trend. Gold futures for the June contract were trading 1 per cent higher at ₹1,55,850 per 10 grams, while silver futures for the July contract rose 1.5 per cent to ₹2,70,249 per kilogram.

Market analysts attribute the strength in precious metals to a combination of factors, including global economic uncertainty, geopolitical developments, currency movements, and expectations regarding interest-rate policies of major central banks. Gold traditionally attracts investors during periods of market volatility, while silver often benefits from both safe-haven demand and industrial consumption.

The sustained rally in precious metals has also drawn attention from retail investors and traders seeking portfolio diversification amid fluctuating equity and commodity markets.

Experts suggest that future price movements will depend on international market trends, inflation data, central bank decisions, and geopolitical developments that influence investor sentiment toward safe-haven assets.
