Northern Railway Urges Early Reservations for Katra-Haridwar Special Train
To accommodate the surge in pilgrim traffic during Somvati Amavasya, Northern Railway will run a fully reserved special train between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Haridwar on June 14 and 15, offering enhanced connectivity for devotees.
In view of the anticipated increase in pilgrim movement during Somvati Amavasya, the Northern Railway has announced the operation of a special train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Haridwar.
The special service will be operated by the Jammu Railway Division as train numbers 04606/04605 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Haridwar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special.
Train Schedule
- Train No. 04606 (Katra–Haridwar Special):
The train will depart from Katra on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6:15 PM and is scheduled to arrive in Haridwar at 6:30 AM the following day. - Train No. 04605 (Haridwar–Katra Special):
The return service will leave Haridwar on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 5:20 PM and reach Katra at 7:00 AM the next morning.

The train will operate as a fully reserved special service comprising 16 coaches, including:
- AC 2-Tier coaches
- AC 3-Tier coaches
- Sleeper Class coaches
- Reserved General coaches

The special train will stop at several important stations, including:
- Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Station
- Jammu (Jammu Tawi)
- Pathankot Cantonment
- Jalandhar Cantonment
- Ludhiana
- Ambala Cantonment
- Saharanpur
- Roorkee
Railway Advisory
Divisional Commercial Manager Uchat Singhal said that Somvati Amavasya witnesses a significant rise in the number of devotees visiting the shrine of Vaishno Devi Temple.
He stated that the special train has been introduced to facilitate passengers and effectively manage the additional rush during the religious occasion.
Passengers have been advised to:
- Make reservations at the earliest.
- Travel only with valid tickets.
- Contact 139, Indian Railways’ helpline, for information regarding ticket availability and reservation status.
- Maintain cleanliness at railway stations and during the journey.
The initiative is expected to provide much-needed relief to thousands of pilgrims travelling between two of North India’s most prominent religious destinations during the festive period.
