More than 230 passengers were evacuated from an IndiGo aircraft at Kempegowda International Airport on Tuesday evening after smoke was detected inside the cabin and cockpit, according to sources.

During the emergency evacuation, two passengers reportedly sustained injuries. Airport and airline officials responded immediately to the situation, and all passengers and crew members were safely moved out of the aircraft.

In an official statement, IndiGo said all customers and crew are safe and have been shifted to the terminal, where assistance and support are being provided by airline teams to ensure their well-being.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation into the incident. Authorities said the aircraft has been grounded for a detailed technical inspection.

Smoke-related incidents on aircraft are treated with high priority in aviation safety protocols due to potential risks involving onboard electrical systems, engine components or air-conditioning units.
