The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced that the NEET-UG medical entrance examination will be re-conducted on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier exam over alleged irregularities in the examination process.

The examination had originally been conducted on May 3 for lakhs of medical aspirants across the country seeking admission to undergraduate medical programmes.

Earlier this week, the NTA cancelled the examination after allegations surfaced regarding possible irregularities and malpractice linked to the conduct of the test. The agency had also confirmed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would carry out a detailed probe into the matter.

Officials said the decision to re-conduct the examination was taken to ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity in the admission process for medical courses.

The NEET-UG examination is one of India’s largest competitive entrance tests and serves as the gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical programmes in government and private institutions across the country.

The NTA is expected to issue detailed guidelines, revised admit card schedules, and examination-related instructions ahead of the June 21 test date.
