BJP Fields First-Time MLA Rathindra Bose for Speaker’s Post

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday announced the candidature of Rathindra Bose for the post of Speaker in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

The announcement was made by senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari while speaking to reporters inside the Assembly premises.

Rathindra Bose, who represents the Cooch Behar Dakshin constituency, is serving as a first-time MLA. The BJP leadership has entrusted him with contesting for the constitutional post of Speaker amid the ongoing political proceedings in the Assembly.

Reacting to his nomination, Bose said that if elected as Speaker, he would carry out his duties impartially and work with the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for placing confidence in him for the important legislative position.

The election for the Speaker’s post is expected to attract political attention as the ruling and opposition parties prepare for the Assembly proceedings. The Speaker plays a crucial role in maintaining order in the House and conducting legislative business in accordance with constitutional norms and Assembly rules.
