GCMMF Announces Fresh Milk Price Hike Effective May 14
GCMMF Cites Rising Input Costs as Fresh Milk Price Revision Takes Effect From May 14
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the popular Amul brand, on Wednesday announced an increase of ₹2 per litre in milk prices across India. The revised rates will come into effect from May 14.
In an official statement, GCMMF said the price hike applies to major fresh pouch milk variants and packs sold across the country. The federation attributed the increase to rising input and operational costs faced by the dairy sector.

This marks the first milk price revision by Amul since May 1, 2025. Industry experts say higher expenses related to cattle feed, transportation, fuel, packaging, and overall procurement costs have put pressure on dairy cooperatives, leading to the latest adjustment in consumer prices.
The federation stated that the increase was necessary to ensure fair returns to milk producers and farmers while maintaining supply chain sustainability. Dairy cooperatives often revise prices based on fluctuations in production costs and procurement rates paid to farmers.

The move is expected to impact household budgets, particularly in urban areas where packaged milk consumption remains high. However, dairy industry observers note that milk prices in India continue to remain comparatively moderate despite inflationary pressures affecting food and agricultural sectors.
Amul is one of India’s largest dairy brands and supplies milk and dairy products to millions of consumers daily through its nationwide cooperative network.
