Bengal Assembly Polls Phase 1 to Cover 44,376 Booths Tomorrow
The first phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 will be held tomorrow across 152 constituencies covering 16 districts.
A total of 1,478 candidates are contesting in this phase, according to officials.
The Election Commission of India said all arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling. Voting will take place at 44,376 booths, including nearly 3,000 auxiliary booths.
Out of these, 5,444 booths will be managed by women, while 207 model booths have also been set up. Two booths managed by Persons with Disabilities will operate in Balurghat and Asansol Dakshin constituencies.
There are 167 women candidates in the fray during the first phase.
The Commission said 100 per cent webcasting will be conducted across all booths. Security arrangements include Quick Response Teams, flying squads, CCTV cameras, and other monitoring measures.
The second phase of polling in West Bengal will be held next Wednesday.
