Tim Cook to Step Down as Apple CEO in September
Apple Inc. has announced that Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook will step down from his current role on September 1, 2026, and transition to the position of executive chairman.
Cook, who has led Apple since 2011 after succeeding Steve Jobs, will continue through the summer to help ensure a smooth handover.
John Ternus has been named as the next CEO. Ternus has spent more than two decades at Apple and has overseen key hardware products including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

Apple said the leadership change follows a long-term succession planning process approved unanimously by its board of directors.
