Company Rejects Unverified Claims, Reassures Consumers on Maggi Safety
Nestlé India has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged presence of infestation in Maggi noodles. The FMCG major said laboratory examinations of the concerned batch and market samples found the products compliant with all prescribed food safety and quality standards.
Nestlé India has categorically rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged presence of infestation in its popular Maggi noodles, asserting that comprehensive testing confirmed the products complied with all applicable food safety and quality requirements.
In a clarification submitted to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) major said it became aware of the complaint through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) after concerns were raised by an unverified account on social media platform X.
Responding to a media report published on June 12, the company stated that it had undertaken a detailed examination of the matter and found no evidence supporting the allegations.

“We categorically reject allegations circulating on media basis an unverified account regarding the presence of infestation, allegedly on MAGGI noodles,” Nestlé India said in its response to the stock exchanges.
The company further stated that laboratory tests conducted on the specific batch referred to in the complaint, along with samples collected from the market, confirmed that the products met all prescribed quality and food safety standards.
Nestlé India emphasised that stringent quality control protocols are followed throughout the manufacturing process to ensure the safety and consistency of its products. The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in sourcing, production, testing, and distribution.
The clarification comes amid renewed public attention on food safety concerns involving branded food products, particularly when allegations gain traction through social media platforms.

The FSSAI, India’s apex food regulator, routinely examines complaints relating to food products and coordinates with manufacturers and relevant authorities to verify the authenticity of such claims and ensure consumer protection.
Nestlé India’s response also sought to reassure consumers that there was no compromise in the quality or safety of Maggi noodles, one of the country’s most widely consumed instant food brands.
The company advised consumers to rely on information issued through official channels and regulatory authorities rather than unverified social media posts that may create unnecessary concern.
The development underscores the increasing role of digital platforms in shaping public perception, while highlighting the importance of scientific verification and regulatory oversight in addressing food safety allegations.
