The United States and Iran are reportedly moving closer to a preliminary diplomatic understanding aimed at reducing tensions in West Asia, according to regional sources familiar with the ongoing discussions.

Sources indicated that a draft one-page, 14-point framework is currently under active consideration. The proposed understanding would reportedly create a 30-day negotiation window to work toward a broader long-term agreement between the two countries.

Tehran has stated that it is still reviewing the proposal, while US President Donald Trump said the situation remains under control but warned that military operations could resume if negotiations collapse.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu is said to be holding consultations with US officials regarding the progress of the talks, according to Israeli sources.

Despite diplomatic efforts, security tensions in the region remain elevated. Israel confirmed carrying out an airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburbs targeting a senior commander associated with Hezbollah. The strike marked one of the most significant escalations in the Lebanese capital since the ceasefire.

Israeli officials claimed the targeted individual was linked to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force and had allegedly coordinated attacks against Israeli military personnel and civilian locations.

In response, Hezbollah reportedly launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli positions and claimed casualties among Israeli forces, further intensifying fears of broader regional instability.

Elsewhere, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy stated that safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains possible under newly introduced procedures, although no specific details were disclosed.

At the same time, the United States Central Command announced that it had disabled an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel allegedly attempted to move toward an Iranian port despite an ongoing US blockade.

The developments underline the fragile balance between diplomacy and military confrontation in the region, where negotiations continue alongside active security flashpoints across maritime and conflict zones.
