Sri Lanka Introduces Double-Entry Free Visa Facility for Visitors
Sri Lanka has announced free on-arrival visas for tourists from 40 countries, including India, as part of efforts to boost tourism and international arrivals. The visa will be valid for 30 days with double-entry permission.
The government of Sri Lanka has announced that tourists from 40 countries, including India, will be granted free on-arrival visas valid for 30 days.
According to the Department of Immigration and Emigration, all eligible visitors will still be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka.
The new arrangement allows tourists to receive a free 30-day visa with a double-entry facility from the date of first arrival. Nationals from countries that already have bilateral reciprocal agreements with Sri Lanka — including Singapore, Maldives and Seychelles — are also covered under the framework.
The move is aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, which remains a key contributor to the island nation’s economy. Indian tourists constitute one of the largest groups of international visitors to Sri Lanka each year.
Tourism authorities expect the simplified and cost-free visa process to encourage higher tourist arrivals, improve regional connectivity and support economic recovery through increased travel and hospitality activity.
