India-Sweden Strategic Partnership Expands During PM Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level discussions with Ulf Kristersson in Gothenburg during his official visit to Sweden.

The meeting took place during the third leg of Modi’s ongoing five-nation foreign tour, following the conclusion of his visit to the Netherlands.

According to officials, both sides are expected to explore expanded cooperation in areas including trade, green transition, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action, and people-to-people ties.

Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Kristersson are also scheduled to jointly address the European Round Table for Industry along with Ursula von der Leyen.

The forum is considered one of Europe’s leading business platforms and is expected to focus on economic collaboration, industrial partnerships, and strategic cooperation between India and European stakeholders.

In a special gesture, Swedish Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets escorted Prime Minister Modi’s aircraft after it entered Swedish airspace.

Upon arrival at Gothenburg Airport, Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome and personally received by Prime Minister Kristersson.

The visit is aimed at strengthening India-Sweden ties across technology, sustainability, innovation, and strategic sectors while deepening India’s engagement with European partners.
