India Open to Talks but Rejects ‘Unilateral Claims’
MEA reiterates long-standing position; open to dialogue on boundary issues
India has firmly rejected Nepal’s recent claim over Lipulekh Pass, asserting that the route has been historically used for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra since 1954.
Responding to remarks by Nepal’s Foreign Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal stated that India’s position on the matter has been consistent and unchanged over the years.
He emphasised that Nepal’s claims are “neither justified nor based on historical facts and evidence,” adding that unilateral attempts to expand territorial claims are not acceptable.

India also reiterated its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with Nepal to resolve outstanding boundary issues through diplomatic channels.
The statement underscores India’s stance of maintaining established positions while keeping avenues open for peaceful resolution of disputes.
