India Monitoring West Asia Crisis, Assisting Evacuation of Nationals from Iran and Israel
India is closely monitoring developments in the Gulf and West Asia region amid the ongoing crisis, according to Aseem Mahajan. He said a dedicated special control room at the Ministry of External Affairs is functioning in coordination with Indian missions abroad to assist citizens and provide timely support.
Mahajan said updated advisories are being regularly issued with information on local government guidelines, flight and travel status, consular services, and welfare measures for the Indian community. He noted that flights from countries with open airspace continue to operate to India.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has so far facilitated the movement of 2,358 Indian nationals from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan for onward travel to India. He also said Israel’s airspace is partially open with restricted operations, and India continues to assist nationals travelling from Israel through Jordan and Egypt back to India.
