India and Ukraine Exchange Views on Ongoing Russia-Ukraine Conflict

S. Jaishankar and Andrii Sybiha held discussions on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and bilateral cooperation during a meeting in Cyprus on Wednesday.

The interaction took place on the sidelines of the informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers, popularly known as the Gymnich Forum.

According to Jaishankar, the meeting was “useful” and involved an exchange of views regarding the evolving situation in Ukraine, including battlefield developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a “comprehensive and lasting peace.”

The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations and avenues for cooperation between India and Ukraine amid the continuing geopolitical tensions in the region.

India has consistently called for dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of the conflict since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war. New Delhi has maintained communication with both Moscow and Kyiv while emphasising respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.

The Gymnich Forum serves as an informal platform where European Union foreign ministers and invited international counterparts discuss key global geopolitical and security challenges.

The meeting between Jaishankar and Sybiha comes amid continued international diplomatic engagements focused on conflict resolution and regional stability in Europe.
