QR Code Checks Rolled Out in Pahalgam to Strengthen Tourism Security
Authorities in Pahalgam have introduced a QR code-based verification system following the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack, as part of efforts to strengthen security and rebuild public confidence.
The digital initiative enables real-time verification of tourists, service providers, and local businesses, helping improve monitoring, accountability, and transparency. Officials said the system is aimed at preventing unauthorised operations while ensuring a safer environment for visitors.
Basheer Ahmed, a local horse operator, welcomed the move and said the QR facility prevents illegal operations and benefits genuine workers in the tourism sector. He said many livelihoods in the area depend on tourism and condemned the earlier attack for affecting local incomes.
Ahmed also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and Central Government to reopen Baisaran, saying visitors are disappointed as the destination remains closed.
