The Uttarakhand Police have intensified their campaign against cyber fraud linked to helicopter ticket bookings for the Char Dham Yatra, particularly services operating to Kedarnath.

According to Niharika Tomar, a dedicated Cyber Combat Force was established even before the commencement of the pilgrimage season to tackle online scams targeting devotees.

Speaking about the initiative, Tomar said the force has been continuously monitoring and acting against fraudulent websites, social media accounts, and online platforms that falsely claim to offer helicopter tickets for Kedarnath.

Police officials stated that action has already been taken against approximately 350 fake Facebook pages allegedly involved in misleading pilgrims and facilitating online fraud.

The crackdown comes amid the annual Char Dham Yatra, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country and often sees a surge in demand for helicopter services to Kedarnath Temple.

Authorities have urged pilgrims to remain vigilant and avoid booking tickets through advertisements, social media links, unauthorized travel agents, or third-party websites.

Police warned that cybercriminals often exploit high demand during the pilgrimage season by creating fake booking websites and impersonating authorized service providers.

The Cyber Combat Force will continue monitoring online platforms throughout the yatra period to identify and remove fraudulent content and protect pilgrims from financial scams.
