The Supreme Court of India has appointed its former judge Hrishikesh Roy as the ombudsman of the Bihar Cricket Association.

The court noted that former apex court judge Abhay S. Oka, who had been appointed to the post on March 20, expressed unwillingness to continue in the role as it involved adjudicatory responsibilities.

The matter relates to ongoing issues concerning the functioning of the Bihar Cricket Association.

Earlier, in August last year, the Supreme Court had appointed former judge L. Nageswara Rao as ombudsman of the association and directed him to hold consultations with stakeholders to frame modalities for smooth administration.

In its March 20 order, the bench recorded that Justice Rao had submitted an extensive report along with a separate note and had sought to be relieved from the assignment.
