A fire broke out at a paint godown in Narendrapur near Kolkata on Tuesday morning, officials said.

The blaze was reported around 7:55 am in the godown located in South 24 Parganas district, following which firefighting teams rushed to the spot.

Officials said six fire tenders were deployed to control the flames, which spread rapidly due to the presence of highly inflammable paint materials stored inside the warehouse.

After several hours of firefighting operations, the blaze was brought under control. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

Fire department personnel are continuing cooling operations to prevent any possibility of the fire reigniting. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is expected to be launched.

Industrial and warehouse fires involving chemicals and paint materials often pose significant risks because of toxic fumes and the combustible nature of stored substances, prompting swift emergency response measures.
