Howrah’s IIEST Campus Gets Living Classroom for Students and Researchers
A new 4.4-acre Nature Study Park has been established at the IIEST Shibpur campus in Howrah, creating a dedicated green space where students, researchers, faculty and visitors can learn about nature while enjoying opportunities for recreation, meditation and outdoor activities.
A 4.4-acre Nature Study Park has been developed at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, in Howrah district, West Bengal, providing a new space dedicated to environmental education and sustainable living. The initiative aims to integrate nature into the academic environment while offering a peaceful setting for the campus community.
According to an institute spokesperson, the park has been designed as a “living classroom”, allowing students, faculty members, researchers and visitors to interact with the natural environment through observation, learning and exploration. The facility is expected to support educational activities while fostering greater awareness of biodiversity and conservation.
In addition to its educational value, the Nature Study Park offers an open green space for relaxation, meditation and physical activities. The institute believes the initiative will encourage students to develop a deeper appreciation for nature while promoting overall well-being and a healthier campus lifestyle.
