Ayushman Bharat Coverage Set to Reach Millions of Families in State
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that the state will implement the National Health Mission with central assistance of ₹2,103 crore, while over 1.36 crore families are set to be covered under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.
Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday announced that West Bengal is set to implement the National Health Mission (NHM), with the Centre sanctioning ₹2,103 crore for the initiative.
Addressing a health department programme in Kolkata, the Chief Minister said the funding would strengthen healthcare delivery and support public health infrastructure across the state.
Adhikari also highlighted the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat programme in West Bengal, stating that more than 1.36 crore families would be covered under the flagship health insurance scheme.

Ayushman Bharat, one of the world’s largest government-funded health insurance programmes, provides financial protection for secondary and tertiary healthcare services to eligible beneficiaries.
