Revanth Reddy Praises NIMS Doctors for Healthcare Milestone
Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has achieved a major milestone by successfully completing 2,000 kidney transplant surgeries, making it one of the leading centres for the procedure in South India. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the medical team for the achievement and praised their contribution to public healthcare.
Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Telangana has achieved a major milestone in healthcare by successfully completing 2,000 kidney transplant surgeries, emerging as one of the leading institutions in South India for the procedure.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the NIMS medical team and commended the Department of Urology for its dedication, expertise, and service to patients suffering from kidney diseases.

With the achievement, NIMS now ranks third nationally in the number of kidney transplants performed. The Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre holds the top position, followed by Christian Medical College.
Officials highlighted that the milestone carries added significance because nearly 95 per cent of the transplant beneficiaries — around 1,900 patients — received treatment free of cost under Telangana’s Aarogyasri Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

NIMS has also achieved another notable benchmark by completing 500 kidney transplants within just three years and four months since January 2023, reflecting the rapid expansion and efficiency of its transplant programme.
The Chief Minister praised the doctors and healthcare staff for their commitment to delivering advanced medical treatment to economically weaker patients and strengthening Telangana’s healthcare system.
