Balasore, Bhadrak and Other North Odisha Districts Reel Under Floods
Floodwaters continue to inundate several districts of north Odisha, with thousands of people marooned and the Subarnarekha flowing well above its danger level at Rajghat.
The flood situation remains grim in several districts of north Odisha, with Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar continuing to face inundation despite a decline in rainfall.
The Subarnarekha River remains a major concern, flowing at 11.80 metres at Rajghat at 6 am, well above its danger level of 10.36 metres. The flooding has affected around 2.80 lakh people in the region.

Floodwaters continue to create difficulties in several areas, with many people still marooned as water levels remain high and recede slowly. Baliapal in Balasore district is among the worst-affected areas, with more than 45,000 people reportedly still marooned.

In Bhadrak district, schools and Anganwadi centres remain closed due to the prevailing flood situation.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast another spell of rainfall from August 22 and issued a Yellow Warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh, raising concerns about further inundation in already affected areas.
