The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday dismissed social media claims alleging that its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system had been compromised.

In a statement posted on X, CBSE clarified that a social media user had claimed to have breached the OSM portal hosted at the URL “cbse.onmarks.co.in” on February 26, 2026. The claim had subsequently been cited in several media reports.

The board, however, stated that the portal mentioned in the post was merely a testing site and not the operational platform used for evaluating answer sheets.

CBSE emphasised that the actual evaluation portal used for the assessment of answer books operates under a different URL, which, according to the board, has neither been compromised nor affected by the vulnerabilities mentioned in the social media post.

The clarification comes amid growing concerns around cybersecurity and data protection in digital education systems, especially as examination and evaluation processes increasingly rely on online platforms and digital infrastructure.

The board has not indicated any disruption to the evaluation process and maintained that the operational systems remain secure.
