Khadi Industry to Launch E-Commerce Platform Soon
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission achieved record sales of ₹1.87 lakh crore in FY2025-26, marking significant growth in production, employment generation and rural entrepreneurship over the past 12 years.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has achieved a historic milestone during the financial year 2025-26 by recording sales worth ₹1.87 lakh crore.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar attributed the achievement to the efforts and contribution of millions of rural artisans across the country.
He highlighted that compared to FY2013-14, the organisation has registered a remarkable 501 per cent increase in sales, 380 per cent growth in production and 56 per cent growth in employment generation over the last 12 years.

According to Kumar, the turnover of the Khadi industry stood at only ₹30,000–32,000 crore around 12 years ago, underscoring the scale of expansion achieved in recent years.
The KVIC chairman also said the organisation is currently providing employment to more than two crore people, with women accounting for nearly 80 per cent of the workforce.
To further strengthen market access and boost sales, KVIC plans to launch its own e-commerce platform in the near future.
Kumar said Khadi has evolved beyond being merely a traditional product and now represents self-reliance, indigenous pride and rural prosperity in the vision of a “New India.”
The growth of the Khadi sector is being viewed as a key component of India’s rural economy and employment ecosystem, particularly in promoting village industries, women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
