Gujarat Bus Crash Claims Eight Lives, Over 15 Injured

A tragic road accident in Gujarat claimed the lives of eight people after two Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses collided near Bardoli town in Surat district.

According to officials, the collision occurred under circumstances that are currently being investigated. The impact of the crash left several passengers trapped and resulted in multiple casualties. More than 15 injured passengers were rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Emergency services and local authorities rushed to the scene soon after the accident was reported. Rescue teams worked to evacuate passengers and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families. She also wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the incident and stated that rescue operations were underway, with authorities providing all possible assistance at the accident site.

As a gesture of support to the affected families, the Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased victim. Injured persons will receive financial assistance of ₹50,000 each.

Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed inquiry to determine the cause of the collision and assess whether factors such as driver error, road conditions, or mechanical issues contributed to the accident.

The tragedy has once again highlighted the importance of road safety measures and strict adherence to transportation protocols to prevent such incidents on busy highways and inter-state routes.
