Thunderstorms and Rain Likely to Bring Relief from Heatwave in South Bengal
People across southern districts of West Bengal are expected to get relief from intense heat conditions as the India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and rainfall from Wednesday, along with a gradual drop in temperatures.
Residents of the southern districts of West Bengal are likely to experience relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting thunderstorms and rainfall beginning Wednesday.
According to the weather department, maximum temperatures across the state are expected to gradually decline by two to three degrees Celsius from Thursday onward. The expected rainfall and cloud cover are likely to ease the oppressive heat conditions that have persisted over the past several days.
The western districts of Purulia and Paschim Bardhaman have been among the worst affected by the heatwave, with temperatures in Purulia town and Panagarh crossing 41 degrees Celsius.
The prolonged spell of high temperatures and dry weather has caused discomfort for residents, particularly in interior districts where daytime temperatures have remained significantly above normal levels.
Meteorologists expect the incoming thunderstorms to be accompanied by gusty winds and scattered rainfall in several districts of south Bengal, potentially improving weather conditions and reducing heat stress.
The IMD continues to monitor weather patterns closely as seasonal changes and pre-monsoon activity begin influencing conditions across eastern India.
