BJP-Led NDA Secures Third Straight Term in Assam with Massive Mandate
Alliance crosses majority comfortably; Himanta Biswa Sarma retains Jalukbari
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA has secured a historic third consecutive term in Assam, crossing the majority mark of 64 seats in the 126-member Assembly.
Out of 124 declared results so far, BJP has won 82 seats, while its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) have secured 10 seats each, giving the NDA a commanding lead.

The Indian National Congress has won 17 seats and is leading in two, while All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Raijor Dal have secured two seats each. The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won one seat.

- Hitendra Nath Goswami defeated Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat
- Pijush Hazarika won Jagiroad
- Ranoj Pegu won Dhemaji
- Jiban Gogoi won Sissibargaon
Other Notable Results:
- Atul Bora retained Bokakhat
- Ajanta Neog won Golaghat for the sixth time
- Md. Nurul Islam won Srijangram
- Badruddin Ajmal won Binnakandi
JP Polling for all 126 seats was held on April 9, recording a high voter turnout of 85.96%.

The NDA alliance, comprising BJP, AGP, and BPF, faced a broad opposition coalition including Congress, Raijor Dal, AJP, CPI(M), APHLC, and CPI(ML).
The results reinforce BJP’s stronghold in Assam and mark a significant political consolidation in the Northeast.
