Jaishankar Begins Caribbean Tour, Arrives in Jamaica for Key Talks

S Jaishankar has begun his official visit to the Caribbean, arriving in Kingston, where he was welcomed by his Jamaican counterpart Kamina J Smith.

The visit, which also includes Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, aims to strengthen India’s diplomatic engagement and deepen ties with the region.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, discussions during the tour will cover a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest.

Jaishankar is expected to meet top leadership in all three countries, engage with business leaders, and interact with members of the Indian diaspora, highlighting India’s commitment to South-South cooperation and development.

The visit is seen as part of India’s continued efforts to strengthen longstanding partnerships and expand cooperation with Caribbean nations.
