Iran has said it is reviewing fresh proposals reportedly put forward by the United States, while signalling that future negotiations would require Washington to drop what it called excessive demands.

According to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Asim Munir acted as an intermediary and conveyed the proposals during a recent visit to Tehran. Iranian officials said no response has yet been given.

The council also stated that Iran will retain full control over vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until the conflict fully ends and lasting peace is restored in the region. It said Iran would continue monitoring shipping movements, issuing transit certificates, and imposing tolls.

Iran further described the US naval blockade as a violation of the ceasefire and said the Strait would not be fully reopened until the blockade is lifted.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said discussions with Iran were progressing well, adding during a White House event that Iran “can’t blackmail us.”
