Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, is on a four-day official visit to Myanmar from May 2 to May 5, 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation.

During the visit, Admiral Tripathi will hold discussions with key Myanmar leaders, including General Ye Win Oo, General U Htun Aung, and Admiral Htein Win.

The meetings are expected to review ongoing defence cooperation, enhance operational linkages, and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two navies, particularly in maritime security, training, and capacity building.

The visit also includes engagements at Myanmar Navy’s Central Naval Command, Naval Training Command, and No. 1 Fleet, along with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Armed Forces Fallen Heroes’ War Memorial.

Myanmar has been an active participant in Indian Navy-led initiatives such as the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, MILAN, International Fleet Review, Goa Maritime Conclave, IOS SAGAR, and the Admiral’s Cup, reflecting growing defence ties between the two nations.

The visit underscores India’s continued focus on regional maritime cooperation and strategic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
