Ashwini Vaishnaw will flag off the extended Vande Bharat Express service connecting Srinagar and Jammu Tawi from Jammu Tawi Railway Station today.

The minister will also inspect two major engineering landmarks on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link — the Anji Bridge and the Chenab Bridge.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the train earlier operated between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and will now run up to Jammu Tawi. Regular services on the extended route will begin from the second of next month.

Two pairs of trains will operate across the 266-kilometre corridor, offering morning and afternoon services from both ends on most days of the week, providing greater flexibility for passengers.

Railways also said the Vande Bharat rake has been upgraded from eight coaches to twenty coaches to meet rising demand and growing popularity on the route.
