Northern Railway Boosts Speed to 130 kmph on Ghaziabad–Saharanpur Route
The Northern Railway has commissioned Double Distant Signals at Pabli Khas and Meerut Cantt, enabling trains to run at speeds of up to 130 kmph on the Ghaziabad–Saharanpur route. The Ministry of Railways said the project achieved a key operational milestone when a train successfully traversed the upgraded section, confirming the seamless integration of advanced signalling and interlocking systems.
The upgrade is expected to enhance passenger experience by ensuring smoother, faster, and more efficient travel along the Meerut–Saharanpur corridor. Officials highlighted that Double Distant Signalling improves safety margins by offering better visibility and control for high-speed operations, reducing sudden braking and improving punctuality. The project also includes advanced interlocking systems, technical upgrades, and enhanced safety features aimed at modernising rail infrastructure.
