The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday approved the allotment of 854.97 acres of land in Vizianagaram district to Reliance Industries Ltd for establishing a Giga Scale AI Data Centre (AIDC) along with a Cable Landing Station (CLS).

According to a Government Order issued by IT Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni, the land has been allotted at a discounted rate of 25 per cent. The project involves a proposed cumulative investment of approximately ₹1.08 lakh crore, making it one of the largest technology infrastructure investments planned in the state.

The government has also directed the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and the Vizianagaram district administration to identify an additional acre of land suitable for establishing the Cable Landing Station.

Officials stated that the project is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure ecosystem and position the state as a major destination for large-scale artificial intelligence and cloud computing investments. The proposed AI Data Centre is likely to support advanced data processing, storage capabilities, and international digital connectivity through the undersea cable landing facility.

Industry experts believe the investment could generate substantial employment opportunities and accelerate growth in sectors such as information technology, telecommunications, cloud services, and digital innovation. The project also aligns with the state government’s efforts to attract high-value technology investments and build next-generation infrastructure for India’s digital economy.
