India continued its outstanding performance at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships on Sunday with wrestlers Mansi Lather, Kajal and Sumit winning gold medals in their respective categories.
Mansi delivered a commanding performance in the women’s 68kg final, defeating Uzbekistan’s Firuza Esenbaeva by a comprehensive 14-1 margin to secure the gold medal.
In the women’s 76kg category, Kajal also dominated her final bout, blanking Kyrgyzstan’s Aizharkyn Zhanybekova 10-0 to claim the top podium finish.

Meanwhile, Greco-Roman wrestler Sumit captured the men’s 63kg title after registering a convincing 12-2 victory against Uzbekistan’s Ozodbek Khalilboev in the final.
India’s strong medal haul at the championship reflects the growing depth and consistency of the country’s wrestling programme across both freestyle and Greco-Roman disciplines.
The performances of the young wrestlers are being viewed as a positive sign for the future of Indian wrestling ahead of major international events, including the Asian Games and Olympic qualification cycles.
