Advocate Wajid Khan has filed a complaint at the Shivaji Nagar police station in Pune and has sought registration of an FIR against Hardik Pandya for insulting the national flag. The incident is said to have taken place during the T20 World Cup victory celebration held in Ahmedabad. The complaint states that Pandya, while celebrating the ICC T20 World Cup victory, was seen walking on the ground in an unruly manner with the tricolour wrapped around his body. The complaint has urged that this is an act that affects the dignity of the national flag and legal action should be taken for it.

Earlier, Pandya had said that winning the second consecutive T20 World Cup was a fulfillment of his personal promise. He also said that his performances, including scoring 52 runs off 28 balls against Namibia, played a key role in the team’s victory. Hardik Pandya shared the challenges he faced in his life after the last ICC T20 World Cup victory. He said that he faced many difficulties personally before the 2024 World Cup held in the United States. Although many things did not go his way during that time, Pandya said that he prepared for the competition with the determination to stand up again.

He also said that he was determined to recover and dominate again before the 2024 World Cup. He recalled that the result of that effort was helping India win the ICC trophy after 17 years. Pandya, who played well with both batting and bowling in that series, took 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.64 and scored 144 runs at an average of 48. “I play cricket to win trophies for my country; my dream is to win all trophies for India,” he said. Since winning the T20 World Cup in 2007, India has won the trophy three times and has also retained the trophy consecutively.
