In football, Al-Ahli successfully defended the AFC Champions League Elite title after defeating first-time finalists Machida Zelvia 1-0 last night.

The final was played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Saudi international striker Firas Al-Buraikan scored the decisive goal in extra time to seal victory for the hosts.

The breakthrough came in the sixth minute of extra time when former FC Barcelona and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie laid the ball off for Al-Buraikan, who fired home from close range.

With the win, Al-Ahli became the first club to secure back-to-back Asian titles since city rivals Al-Ittihad achieved the feat in 2005.
