West Bengal TMC Faction Warns of Legal Action Over SIR and Loudspeaker Concerns
A Ritabrata Banerjee-led TMC faction has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to establish regional tribunals to hear disputes related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The group also raised concerns over the removal of loudspeakers from places of worship and indicated it may seek judicial intervention.
A Ritabrata Banerjee-led TMC faction on Friday appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to establish regional tribunals across the state for hearing disputes arising from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The group said such mechanisms would help safeguard the interests of genuine voters and warned that it would approach the courts if adequate protections were not put in place.
The delegation also expressed concern over the removal of loudspeakers from mosques and temples following court directives on noise pollution. Members indicated that they were considering legal action on the issue, stating that they would seek judicial intervention if necessary.
The demands were presented during a meeting at the state secretariat, Nabanna, where Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met a 13-member delegation of the Ritabrata Banerjee-led TMC faction. The delegation urged the government to address both electoral roll-related concerns and issues affecting religious institutions through appropriate legal and administrative measures.
